Sydney progressive folk sensation Emily-Rose & the Wild Things will be hitting regional and capital cities across the nation in honour of their debut opus ‘Upon These Open Skins’.
Fresh and fierce, Emily-Rose & the Wild Things is the newest project from ARIA nominated member of Chaika, Emily-Rose Sarkova. Songs of depth and beauty are underpinned by worlds traversing jazz, progressive folk, experimental and all the alternative in-betweens. This earthy and profound fusion of acoustic and electric worlds has been compared to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Dirty Projectors, Sam Amidon, Katie Noonan and Hiatus Kaiyote. This will be the groups first tour since the pandemic halted the music industry and they can’t wait to take this celebration across Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.
“I’ve spent 2 long years waiting to bring this beautiful music from our debut album to live audiences – especially in regional areas. I absolutely love touring the east coast of Australia – I even have a song all about the joy of driving to Bellingen. Our performances have been loved by the jazz crowd, folkies, metal heads, indie lovers and experimental fans across the board – so you know that the show will take you on an exceptional journey.’ Emily-Rose, band leader on vocals, piano and synths
Inspired by Emily-Rose’s love of nature, nostalgia, place and metaphoric imagery, ‘Upon These Open Skins’ is a culmination of jazz, post rock, the balkans, folk melody and classical impressionism. Taking it live NATIONALLY for the first time, Emily-Rose & the Wild Things are ready to bring you their unique musical tapestry that is both breathtaking and awe-inspiring in its most authentic and raw form.
